President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said, "Hey UN Security Council, what are you waiting for to prevent the genocide in Gaza, to say 'stop' to this oppression and this barbarism?"

Erdoğan began his address to the 79th United Nations (UN) General Assembly by greeting the audience.

Expressing his great pleasure at having the opportunity to once again address the UN General Assembly, Erdoğan wished that the 79th General Assembly would bring prosperity to countries and all humanity.

Erdoğan said, "I congratulate Mr. Francis, who has completed his term as President of the General Assembly, and I wish success to Mr. Yang, who has taken over this duty."

Expressing their satisfaction in finally seeing the representative of their friend and brother Palestine in the rightful place among the member states after long struggles, Erdoğan stated, "I hope this historic step will be the final milestone on the path to Palestine’s full UN membership. I invite other states that have not yet recognized Palestine to take the right side of history in this critical period by recognizing the State of Palestine as soon as possible."

Erdoğan continued, "Most of the crises that many of my friends here only watch on their screens, we live and manage in real time." He added, "Therefore, today I am addressing you as the leader of a country that is not distant from tensions but right in their heart. Even if it bothers some, even if some will once again target me, I am here today to speak openly about certain truths on this common platform of humanity, in the name of humanity."

Erdoğan reminded that the United Nations was established after the Second World War, in which millions of people lost their lives, to maintain international peace and security.
